What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program that provides support and services to Australians living with disability. It’s designed to help people achieve their goals, build independence, and improve their quality of life.
A key feature of the NDIS is choice and control — giving participants the power to decide how their supports are delivered, and who provides them.
To access the NDIS, you’ll need to meet certain eligibility criteria and submit an access request. If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible, you can check the criteria and start the process on the official NDIS website.
Still feeling unsure? NDIS Superhero is here to help guide you every step of the way — just reach out to our friendly team.

NDIS Funding Options
When it comes to managing your NDIS funding, you have three options — and the freedom to choose what works best for you:
- Self-managed: You take full control of your budget, pay providers directly, and handle the paperwork yourself.
- Plan-managed: A registered Plan Manager (like NDIS Superhero!) takes care of the admin — paying invoices, keeping track of budgets, and helping you navigate the system.
- NDIA-managed: The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) pays your providers directly, but you’re limited to using only NDIS-registered providers.
You can also choose a mix of these options to suit your needs. No matter how you manage your funds, you always have choice and control — ensuring your supports align with your goals and fit within your plan.
Not sure which option is right for you? Contact NDIS Superhero and we’ll talk you through it.
